Major restaurant group, Big Mamma, signs at Quadrant’s YY London building in Canary Wharf

Quadrant, the independent UK real estate asset management and development company, has secured another food and beverage occupier at YY London, its landmark newly refurbished ESG-led 415,000 sq ft Canary Wharf office building.

Big Mamma, the international Italian restaurant group, founded in 2015 in Paris by entrepreneurs Victor Lugger and Tigrane Seydoux, is bringing its vibrant atmosphere, and excellent products, sourced directly from over 170 Italian artisans, to Canary Wharf, having taken 9,500 sq ft on a 15 year lease at YY London. It will open its doors to customers in June.

This is the latest in a raft of F&B deals to have completed at YY London. Earlier this year Brother Marcus, London’s leading Eastern Mediterranean restaurant group, announced it was bringing its signature brunch, mezze, cocktails and Eastern Med wines to YY London this summer, having taken 2,861 sq ft on a 20-year lease.

Hagen, a Danish espresso bar, has also recently opened its seventeenth outlet at YY London – a 1,141 sq ft bar on a 10-year lease. Each Hagen location is uniquely designed to reflect Danish culture. The bar at YY London draws inspiration from Room 606 in Copenhagen’s SAS Hotel by Arne Jacobsen, featuring blue velvet, wooden paneling, brown marble, and oval lighting.

Big Mamma will join Brother Marcus and Hagen on YY London’s ground floor facing directly onto the open spaces of Jubilee Plaza opposite the Jubilee Line Underground Station and the new waterfront Eden Dock. The brands are all exciting new offerings not only for those working at YY London, but also residents of and visitors to Canary Wharf, inviting them to experience the building.

Tristram Gethin, Founding Partner at Quadrant said: “We welcome Big Mamma to YY London. The brand joining Revolut, Brother Marcus and Hagen, is further testament to the building’s quality and the role it is playing in Canary Wharf’s community.”

In recent years Canary Wharf has been transformed into a thriving mixed-use destination. Today it is home for 3,500 people with another 3,600 homes in the pipeline. Big Mamma, Brother Marcus and Hagan are joining a thriving mix of retailers, restaurants, cafes and bars. There are multiple leisure and sports offerings, and Eden Dock located opposite YY London with its floating gardens, boardwalks and aquatic habitats has created a unique new space for London. This is in addition to the soon-to-be-completed new Eden linear park, and one of the city’s longest indoor go-karting tracks.

YY London represents the transformation of one of Canary Wharf’s first office buildings into one of Europe’s smartest and most sustainable workplaces. Last year, global fintech Revolut signed a deal to relocate its HQ to YY London, taking 113,000 sq ft of space across four floors at the building. YY London’s design prioritises productivity, health, and sustainability. With smart technology, WELL Platinum amenities, and biophilic design, it offers flexible, efficient spaces that enhance occupier wellbeing and redefine the modern hybrid workplace. YY London is within a five minute walk of a multitude of Canary Wharf’s amenities including 94 bars and restaurants, 46 cafes, 5 supermarkets and 3 gyms.

YY London was purchased in 2019 by a joint venture between Quadrant and funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. to extensively refurbish the building to a highly modern standard. The refurbishment completed in 2023.
